That Jewish Adagio

This is my second book, and I wrote it in a hurry. I had the feeling that if I did not finish it before August 1, 2026, something unrecoverable would happen. I cannot explain that feeling better than that. While I was writing it, I was thinking about my son. It gave me the sense that I was obliged to write this book for him. In the first book, I was an observer, a presenter, a witness, a conductor. In this book, I became a creator. I created the first prototype of a machine that, in my view, can do something genuinely useful for human beings, although I do not think we yet understand how useful. This book is also strangely autobiographical. I stepped out of the closet of my fears and began to build something. Long overdue. I had a long and difficult debate about whom to dedicate this book to. I have dedicated it to my son, Thomas. But anybody can see my grandmother’s fingerprints all over me. Grandma, this is for you too. Not in the book. In my heart.
